At Penfield Children’s Center, we believe that meaningful experiences beyond the classroom help children and families learn, grow, and build lasting connections. Recently, families participating in our In-Home Early Head Start Program enjoyed a special visit to the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, where they spent the day exploring, learning, and connecting with one another.

For many families, the visit offered a welcome opportunity to step out of their daily routines and experience something new. Parents shared that they appreciated having a chance to spend uninterrupted time with their children in a fun, engaging environment while connecting with other families in the community. The experience provided a refreshing change of pace and an opportunity to create lasting memories together.

Children eagerly explored the museum’s interactive exhibits, discovering new activities and opportunities for hands-on learning. From imaginative play to problem-solving and creativity, every corner of the museum encouraged curiosity and engagement. Families also enjoyed special activities designed specifically for the socialization group, making the visit even more meaningful.

Partnerships like this play an important role in supporting the families we serve. Access to enriching community experiences helps children learn through play while encouraging family engagement and social connection. These opportunities can reduce feelings of isolation, strengthen relationships, and introduce families to valuable resources throughout the community.

For children enrolled in our In-Home Early Head Start Program, socialization experiences like this complement the individualized support families receive from their home visitors. By participating in community-based activities, children can practice new skills, interact with peers, and build confidence in new environments while parents connect with one another and share experiences.

We are grateful to the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum for helping create an environment where families can learn, explore, and connect together. Experiences like these remind us that some of the most impactful learning happens when families have the opportunity to discover the world side by side.

If you’re expecting a child or have a young child at home, our In-Home Early Head Start Program can help you support your child’s growth and development through personalized home visits, family resources, and engaging community experiences like this one. Learn more about the program and enroll today.
