Penfield Children’s Center Annual Holiday Party: A Day of Joy, Community & Celebration

On Saturday, December 6th, Penfield Children’s Center welcomed families for our beloved Annual Holiday Party, a day filled with creativity and pure seasonal joy. Classrooms were reimagined as themed holiday spaces, each offering hands-on activities inspired by seasonal traditions from around the world. Children created snowmen, decorated cookies, made ornaments, and explored sensory-rich art and music projects that celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, and the Winter Solstice.

The Kohl’s Family Learning Center provided inclusive play opportunities, while the Emerald Room hosted festive family photos and the Staff Lounge offered snacks and a warm place to connect. The energy throughout the center was joyful and filled with the excitement of the season.

A celebration of this size and heart wouldn’t be possible without the incredible generosity of Kohl’s Cares, a partner who has supported this event for over 30 years. Kohl’s associates once again wrapped and delivered hundreds of gifts, bringing both holiday spirit and impressive teamwork. In addition to corporate support, the Kohl’s West Allis store continued its longtime Giving Tree tradition, with Manager Mark and associate Claudia ensuring Penfield children received thoughtful gifts chosen with care. 

Penfield was able to provide gifts to nearly 500 families this year. Tables were filled with carefully wrapped presents, books, toys, games, and surprises tailored to children’s ages and needs. Watching children light up as they explored the activities and knowing they would leave with gifts to enjoy at home was one of the most meaningful parts of the day.

The event was also powered by the energy and kindness of more than 50 volunteers from Penfield staff, community members, and supporters who helped guide activities, serve snacks, welcome families, and keep the celebration running smoothly. Their enthusiasm filled every room and made each moment special. We could not have done it without their incredible support!

The Holiday Party remains one of Penfield’s most cherished traditions, and a reminder of what community can do when we come together with love, generosity, and the shared goal of creating joy for children. Thank you to Kohl’s, our volunteers, our staff, and everyone who helped make this year’s celebration unforgettable. We’re already looking forward to next year!
