This month, we celebrate Maggie Dietrich, PT, DPT, IMH-E, Board-Certified Pediatric Physical Therapy Specialist and Infant Family Specialist, Endorsed Reflective Supervisor, as she marks an incredible 18 years of service at Penfield Children’s Center.
Eighteen years ago, a move to Milwaukee set in motion a journey that would profoundly shape countless children and families and the career of one dedicated pediatric physical therapist.
“My family moved to Milwaukee in 2007 and I knew at that time as a pediatric physical therapist I wanted to be a part of Birth to Three in Milwaukee County and to work for an agency that supported some of the most vulnerable members of our community.”
That intention led her to Penfield Children’s Center, where she has spent nearly two decades supporting infants, toddlers, and families during their most pivotal early years.
Finding Purpose in Every Story
When asked about her favorite part of the job, Maggie’s answer reflects the heart of early intervention work:
“I love hearing the stories and experiences of the families that I have the privilege of meeting. I have learned so much from the families and children I have worked with, especially around resiliency and hope.”
Her work extends far beyond physical therapy. It is about listening, understanding, and witnessing the strength that families bring to each challenge and milestone.
A Calling That Sustains Her
For Maggie, motivation comes from something deeper than routine:
“I feel a sense of calling in my work, to establish trusting relationships with families and to respect the dignity of every child I meet. I really am thankful for the relationships I have with my teammates, how we support each other through the ups and downs in our work.”
Her words reflect a commitment not just to children, but to Penfield’s culture of compassion and teamwork, one that has helped sustain her throughout her 18-year journey.
Life Beyond Penfield
Outside of work, she finds joy in her family and the outdoors:
“I have two grown children (one in Madison, and one in Charleston, SC) that I would love to visit every day, but they say that is too much. My husband and I enjoy the outdoors, especially hiking and canoeing with our two woods and water loving labrador retrievers, Mabel and Dottie.”
Honoring 18 Years of Impact
Maggie’s commitment, humility, and genuine care have touched the lives of so many within our community. As we celebrate her 18-year anniversary at Penfield Children’s Center, we are grateful for the compassion she brings to every child, every family, and every teammate.
