This month, we’re proud to celebrate Julian and his 10-year work anniversary at Penfield Children’s Center.
As our Facilities Technician, Julian plays an essential role in keeping our building running smoothly so that children, families, and staff can focus on what matters most. Much of his work happens behind the scenes, but the impact is felt throughout the entire organization.
A Journey of Growth
Julian’s story at Penfield began with opportunity and determination.
He first joined Penfield as a part-time cleaner through an extended company. After several months of strong work and dedication, Penfield offered him a full-time position. Accepting that role in March 2016 marked the beginning of a journey that has now spanned a decade.
Over the past ten years, Julian has continued to grow in his role and advance within the organization, ultimately becoming a Facilities Technician. His commitment to the work and to Penfield has helped keep our building safe, functional, and welcoming for everyone who walks through our doors.
Finding Reward in the Work
For Julian, the most rewarding part of his role is the ability to work with his hands and take ownership of his responsibilities.
“In my role as a facilities technician, I appreciate the rewarding aspects that come from working with my hands and having the autonomy to manage my workload at my own pace.” – Julian

A Right Hand Through It All
Karie Anderson, Director of Facilities, has worked closely with Julian and knows firsthand the value he brings to the team.
“Julian has been an incredible part of our team for the past 10 years. He has truly been my right hand through all of the good and all of the messy facilities moments that come with running a building like ours.
Julian is someone who just gets things done. He shows up every day ready to work, never complains, and handles whatever is thrown his way. He’s always positive, no matter what’s going on, and is a true team player who is always willing to help wherever needed.
A lot of the work Julian does happens behind the scenes, taking care of issues before most people even realize there was a problem. Penfield would not be the same without him, and we are lucky to have him on our team.”
Fun Fact
When he’s not keeping things running at Penfield, Julian enjoys tattoos and has more than 20 of them.
Congratulations, Julian, on 10 years with Penfield. We are grateful for your dedication, positivity, and the countless ways you help make Penfield a safe and welcoming place for the children and families we serve.
