At Penfield Children’s Center, milestones are more than just markers of time, they reflect dedication, growth, and the lives touched along the way. Today, we are proud to celebrate Tamara Limbach and her five-year journey of making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.
Tamara’s path to Penfield began in January 2020, when she joined the Behavior Clinic as a graduate student intern. What started as an internship quickly became something more. Even while navigating the challenges of completing most of her internship during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tamara found herself deeply connected to the work.
She discovered a passion for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and the powerful role it plays in shaping a child’s development. That passion never faded. In fact, it only grew stronger. Tamara accepted a full-time position while still in school and officially joined the team the day after graduating, a testament to her commitment and belief in the mission.
Today, Tamara works as a Bilingual Licensed Family Counselor in Penfield’s Behavior Clinic, guiding children and families through key moments of early development. When asked what she loves most about her role, she says it’s the kids.
From the littlest ones just beginning to explore the world to older children building new skills, Tamara finds energy and inspiration in each interaction. Whether it is a shared laugh, a breakthrough moment, or watching a child gain confidence, these experiences are what bring her joy and motivation every single day.
Her work in the Behavior Clinic closely aligns with the values highlighted in her recent contribution to our blog, Helping Little Ones Understand Big Feelings: A Parent’s Guide to Emotions in Early Childhood. In it, Tamara helps caregivers better understand how to support children as they navigate emotions, reinforcing just how critical early mental health support can be.
Her leadership also recognizes the impact she brings:
“Tamara is a strong advocate for her clients, and she cares deeply for all the families she serves. She is a caring and invested co-worker, taking the time to make connections and showing concern for the wellbeing of everyone she has contact with. Tamara’s passion for Penfield’s mission is evident in all her interactions.”
– Heather Rotolo, Director of the Behavior Clinic
Beyond her professional dedication, Tamara brings a unique perspective shaped by her global experiences. She has traveled to 14 countries, more than the number of states she has visited in the United States. This curiosity and openness to the world enrich the empathy and cultural awareness she brings to her work with families.
For those just beginning their journey in this field, Tamara offers thoughtful advice: find your why. Whether the week has been rewarding or challenging, staying connected to that purpose will guide and sustain you. She also emphasizes the importance of self-care and maintaining a healthy work and personal life balance, something every caregiver and professional can benefit from.
As we celebrate Tamara’s five-year milestone, we also celebrate the countless children and families she has supported along the way. Her passion, compassion, and commitment embody what it means to truly make an impact.
