Penfield is excited to announce that it recently began renovations to ready two new classrooms for Head Start, a free educational program for 3 and 4-year-olds that helps establish school readiness skills.  Officially starting November 15, Penfield will host a Head Start program through a partnership with Acelero, a New York-based firm that operates Head Start programs in three other states.  Each classroom will provide services in the morning and host 17 to 20 children.

Research in Early Childhood Education continues to indicate that early intervention services are the most effective when utilized through the age of 8.  Offering Head Start at Penfield is not just an effort to add a few more friendly little faces, but a first step in Penfield’s long term plan to serve older children beyond the Birth-to-Three program.  We’re thrilled for the opportunity to extend our services and continue to support more children and families in our community in need of quality early education.
