Employee Spotlight: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Lizbeth Senner Perez
At Penfield, we are proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month—a time to honor the heritage, tradition, and community, while recognizing the rich culture, values, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities.
This month, we are honored to spotlight Lizbeth Senner Perez, Bilingual Family Advocate, who shares how this celebration holds deep personal meaning.
“Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration of culture, resilience, and identity. It is a time to recognize the rich traditions, values, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx communities, both past and present. For me, it is deeply personal. It means honoring the generations that came before me and the sacrifices they made so I could be where I am today.”

Lizbeth’s story is rooted in generations of maternal healers and community caretakers from her family’s small rural town in Mexico. Her Mama Rosario cared for the sick using herbs, and her grandmother offered healing through spiritual connection and compassion. Lizbeth’s own mother showed immense courage, leaving behind everything she knew at just 19 years old to build a better life for her children.

“This month, I celebrate her. I honor all the mothers, abuelas, tías, and ancestors whose strength and love shaped who I am. Hispanic Heritage Month is not just about where we come from. It is about the power we carry forward.”
One message Lizbeth carries with her is a reflection of that legacy:
“My mother’s glass ceiling is only the floor beneath my feet.”
This powerful reminder keeps her grounded in gratitude while motivating her to keep building opportunities for those who will come after.
We are grateful to Lizbeth for sharing her story, her heritage, and her strength with all of us at Penfield.
