Celebrating Karie Anderson’s 16-Year Journey at Penfield

We’re proud to celebrate Karie Anderson, Director of Facilities Management, on her 16-year work anniversary at Penfield Children’s Center.

When asked what led her to Penfield, Karie shared: “I wanted to be somewhere my work mattered. Turns out, fixing leaky ceilings and planning building upgrades is a lot more rewarding when it supports kids and cubicles.”

Her favorite part of the job? The unpredictability. “Every day is a mystery novel—will it be HVAC drama, a roof leak cliffhanger, or a surprise furniture delivery? Always keeps me guessing.”

What keeps her motivated is knowing the impact her work has on others. “When I unlock doors, fix things, or plan spaces, it actually helps kids learn, play, and staff survive another day with working lights and printers.”

Outside of work, Karie enjoys heading to the Northwoods each summer to fish. “The fish aren’t impressed, but I keep trying,” she joked.

Her advice to someone new at Penfield is simple and practical: “Learn to roll with it. Things break, plans change, and coffee is non-negotiable.”

Beyond her work, Karie enjoys camping, cooking, spending time with family, and cheering on her home teams, the Brew Crew and the Packers.

We’re so grateful for Karie’s dedication, expertise, and heart over the past 16 years. Congratulations, Karie.
