At Penfield Children’s Center, our staff know how to throw a celebration, and Hispanic Heritage Month was no exception. We came together to honor the vibrant traditions, delicious flavors, and lively spirit of Hispanic culture, creating a day full of joy, connection, and community.
We brought back some of our favorite festivities from last year, including our beloved Lotería Night, now a hit for three years running. The excitement was contagious as players competed for prizes, shouting “Lotería” with every win. Standout prizes included a playful Señora Starter Pack (if you know, you know), a molcajete perfect for making fresh salsa or guacamole, and other fun prizes that added to the laughter and friendly competition.

The food was just as much of a highlight as the games. Guests enjoyed a mouthwatering spread of empanadas, tostadas de tinga, arroz, tacos, espagueti, and an elote bar, alongside chips, salsa, and a variety of Jarritos flavors including lime, tamarind, pineapple, grapefruit, and mandarin. The kiddos especially loved the Paleta Payasos, marshmallow lollipops coated in dark chocolate and decorated with gummies, shaped like smiling clowns. They could not get enough of these colorful, playful treats. Sweet treats like conchas and candies were also a hit with families.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this celebration possible, from staff and volunteers to the families who joined in the fun. Hispanic Heritage Month at Penfield was a joyful reminder of how good food, friendly competition, and community spirit can bring everyone together in laughter and celebration.
Be part of the fun and join us at our next celebration with Penfield.
