Milestones and Moments – Celebrating 30 Years of Impact

Last week, Penfield Children’s Center was proud to host Milestones and Moments—an unforgettable evening honoring three decades of the Croquet Ball, our signature fundraising event, and the many lives touched along the way. This special celebration marked more than just an anniversary—it was a tribute to the partnerships, stories, and steadfast support that continue to shape Penfield’s mission every day.

Guests were welcomed by Megan Wurz, Penfield’s Vice President of Partnerships & Investments, and heard a powerful address from President and CEO Polina Makievsky. Together, they reminded us that Milestones and Moments isn’t just about looking back—it’s about recognizing the lives changed, the progress made, and the future we’re building together.

Throughout the night, we reflected on key moments in Penfield’s journey, celebrated the families we serve, and shared stories that speak to the heart of early childhood intervention. One of the most moving moments came when Penfield parent Shenell shared her family’s story—her son Jaxon’s incredible progress through our Birth to Three program and what it has meant for their lives.

We also introduced a new tradition: the Penfield Legacy Award, honoring individuals whose enduring support has transformed our mission. The inaugural award was presented to Bill Kellogg, former CEO of Kohl’s, whose visionary leadership and early belief in Penfield helped launch one of our most impactful partnerships. Bill’s legacy is woven into the fabric of Penfield, and we are so grateful for his lasting impact.
