Penfield Children’s Center Participates in TMJ4’s Community Baby Shower for the Second Year
Penfield Children’s Center is proud to once again partner with TMJ4 for the 2026 Community Baby Shower—marking our second year participating in this impactful community initiative. We are incredibly grateful to continue this partnership and to be selected as a recipient organization serving families throughout Milwaukee.
From January 6–31, TMJ4 partnered with WaterStone Bank to collect baby essentials such as diapers, wipes, formula, blankets, clothing, and other newborn necessities. Thanks to the generosity of viewers, donors, and community partners, these critical supplies were distributed to six local nonprofits, including Penfield, to directly support families in need. As a returning partner, we are honored to be part of an initiative that aligns so closely with our mission: supporting children and families from the very beginning.

Penfield’s Growing Together Program
The donated items will directly benefit mothers enrolled in Penfield’s Growing Together program, which provides group prenatal care, education, and peer connection. With 85% of Penfield families living in poverty, the cost of newborn care—estimated between $100–$300 per month—can place significant strain on household budgets. Donations of diapers, wipes, and formula help ease that burden, ensuring babies have the essentials they need during their earliest months.
We welcome Cassandra McShepard, reporter for TMJ4, to Penfield, where she spoke with CEO Polina Makievsky about the importance of early support and strong community partnerships. Additionally, Lori from Penfield connected with Susan Kim during a visit to the West Allis branch of WaterStone Bank, highlighting the collaboration behind this year’s drive.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to TMJ4, WaterStone Bank, and every donor who contributed. Together, we are building stronger beginnings for Milwaukee families.
