A Mother and Daughter Team Making a Difference at Penfield
We were fortunate to welcome Jacqualyn and her 12-year-old daughter, Franklyn, to Penfield for a heartwarming visit that left a lasting impact on our classrooms.
Together, this mother and daughter spent time in our Back Nursery classroom participating in the Take a Look, Read a Book Program. Their visit brought joy, laughter, and a love of reading to our littlest learners. Even more generous, Jacqualyn and Franklyn donated over 80 books that day helping us expand our classroom libraries and create more opportunities for learning through storytelling.

Franklyn was inspired to do even more for the children of Penfield, so she hosted a lemonade stand to raise funds for a school supply drive. Thanks to her efforts, she and her mom delivered a little over a cartload of supplies, including notebooks, backpacks, erasers, Kleenex, and more, to support Penfield families. Her creativity, compassion, and leadership at just 12 years old are truly inspiring.
We look forward to having Jacqualyn attend our 30th anniversary Penfield Croquet Ball gala this month and to seeing Franklyn continue her volunteer journey with us. Their support helps move our mission forward in meaningful ways.
At Penfield, we believe in the power of community and changemakers like Franklyn and Jacqualyn remind us that meaningful impact can start at any age. Thank you both for leading with love and showing what it means to give back.
If you’re inspired by Franklyn’s generosity and want to make a difference, consider volunteering or hosting your own drive to support our children. Visit https://penfieldchildren.org/get-involved/ to learn more.
