A Year of Growth, Impact, and New Beginnings
This year, we’ve grown to offer life-changing prenatal support to expecting mothers, even before their little ones arrive. Through our Growing Together program, we’ve introduced group pregnancy care, educational resources, and peer support designed to empower mothers and promote healthier pregnancies. By focusing on preventative care, we’re working to reduce the need for early intervention services, helping families give their children the best possible start.

Milwaukee is Facing a Maternal and Infant Health Crisis
Milwaukee is facing a maternal and infant health crisis, with black babies in Wisconsin being 3x more likely to die before their first birthday compared to white babies, making our city one of the worst in the nation for Black maternal and infant health. In fact, Milwaukee has received a “D” grade from the March of Dimes for maternal and infant health, underscoring the urgent need for support. Right now, many expectant mothers are struggling—whether it’s navigating complex health issues, feeling isolated, or managing the stress of preparing for a new baby. Your gift today will ensure these mothers don’t face these challenges alone.

Meet Alexia
As a first-time mom who loves to spend time with her family, Alexia Mctoy was recommended Growing Together by her mom. Her favorite part about the group was being able to talk with the other moms and hear their similar stories, concerns and questions about pregnancy.
She says her involvement in Growing Together also helped her stay strong during her pregnancy, guiding her on how to handle stress and depression in healthy ways. Due to the group, although having to be induced early, Alexia felt prepared for her labor. Along with her mother’s support, she was able to use information she learned from groups to go through labor naturally.
Alexia loves being a mom to her healthy son, Legend Amir Bentley Carter. She has strong goals to maintain her employment to care for her and Legend. She is grateful that Growing Together exists, the opportunity to be a part of it, and the growing relationships she has made with the group facilitators and other members.
