Born with a rare genetic disorder that inverted the two bottom chambers of his heart, Nash had profound medical needs, low cardio strength and difficulty eating on his own. Penfield’s Birth-to-Three Program has given him the strength to start a happier and healthier new year.

At 4 years old, DJ’s behavior was becoming hard to manage. When he was angry, he threw toys and fought with other kids. He had trouble following directions in school and performed at the level of a 2 year old in his class. When he was diagnosed with ADHD his mother Michele found the therapy he needed at Penfield.

Some children, after the age of three, continue to receive occupational, physical and speech therapy at Penfield Children's Center to supplement services that occur in the school system. This may include children through their teen years who require outpatient therapy to recover from surgery, accidents and injuries. Penfield offers therapy sessions before and after school and even during the lunch hour to accommodate family and school schedules.
