Meet JJ

  JJ has a genetic disorder characterized by the body’s inability to produce myelin, the covering that protects the nerves and promotes the efficient transmission of nerve impulses.  Though JJ's challenges are great, Penfield gives him the support he needs.

Meet Mario

Mario has Arthrogryposis, a rare congenital disorder that prevents him from bending his arms and legs.  When he came to Penfield at a little over 5-months-old, he was unable to do much more than just lie on his back.  Two years later, there's nothing he can't do.

Some children, after the age of three, continue to receive occupational, physical and speech therapy at Penfield Children's Center to supplement services that occur in the school system. This may include children through their teen years who require outpatient therapy to recover from surgery, accidents and injuries. Penfield offers therapy sessions before and after school and even during the lunch hour to accommodate family and school schedules. Read More
