There is so much to celebrate when a child reaches a new milestone, and this summer, we had the joy of celebrating our Head Start graduates! 

Our completion ceremonies were a special opportunity for children and their families to recognize all the growth, learning and accomplishments that took place throughout their time in our Early Education Program. From building new skills and friendships to gaining confidence and preparing for what comes next, each child has come a long way. 

“These completion ceremonies are a special opportunity to celebrate how much each child has grown and all they have accomplished during this chapter of their journey,” said Jenna, Director of Early Childhood Education. “Whether they are transitioning to a new classroom, moving from Early Head Start to Head Start, or taking their next steps beyond Penfield, we hope every family leaves feeling proud of how far their child has come and excited for what lies ahead.” 

Books to Build Growing Minds 

As part of the celebrations, each graduating child received a book to take home. A special thank you to Tanya Aigner and Vroom for donating 35 books for our graduating Head Start children. We are also grateful to Stacey Ney and Bob Schwartz & Carol Motzel, along with the many other supporters who donated books and helped make this milestone extra special for our graduates and their families. 

Through CTSI’s Child Advancement Network (CAN) and Vroom, families are learning about the importance of early brain development and the first five years of life. Shared reading is one simple way families can build connection, encourage learning and support growing minds. 

A book may seem like a small gift, but it can create opportunities for families to read, talk, explore and learn together long after the graduation celebration is over. 

Ready for the Next Chapter 

Our community also helped make sure our graduates are ready for their next adventure with some very special back-to-school donations. 

The Laughlin family generously donated 75 backpacks, giving our children a special gift to carry with them into the new school year. We are also grateful to Kohl’s for donating 50 lunch boxes to help our children head into their next chapter prepared and excited. 

Thank you to the families, community partners and supporters who helped us celebrate this important milestone. Your generosity helps make moments like these meaningful for children and their families.
