No one is required to give of themselves. It’s one of the things that makes philanthropy so unique and very special. As we celebrate National Philanthropy Day at Penfield Children’s Center, we’d like to take a moment to acknowledge one of our long-term benefactors and partners in helping us to serve more than 1,600 annually – Kohl’s Department Stores and their philanthropic program, Kohl’s Cares.

Since 2000, Kohl’s has given more than $7.2 million to support Penfield Children’s Center and the children and families we serve. Initially from Penfield’s annual holiday ornaments to the Croquet Ball and partnership to create the Kohl’s Building Blocks program, Kohl’s and Kohl’s Cares has been an exceptional philanthropic partner to this agency. Most recently, Kohl’s Cares committed more than $4 million to enhance and expand its partnership with Penfield Children’s Center increasing bilingual care services, implementing a community outreach program and creating a digital education platform to expand the reach of this program. We couldn’t do what we do on a daily basis without their generous support.

So what did Kohl’s do on National Philanthropy Day? Well, thanks to their generous support more than 350 Penfield children will have winter coats this season.

Thank you Kohl’s for everything you do locally, nationally and right here in your neighborhood at Penfield Children’s Center.
