Penfield Children’s Center recognizes the vital role that families play in helping their children with developmental delays reach their full potential.
Generously funded by Kohl’s Department Stores, Penfield’s Family Services program helps families develop the skills necessary to foster their children’s development and to stabilize the environment in which the children are raised.
Family Services include:
- Parent education workshops on a wide range of topics from toilet training to understanding behavior problems to home safety.
- Family events such as parties, ethnic/cultural celebrations, holiday gatherings and field trips.
- Parent support groups.
- English-speaking or Spanish-speaking Parent Mentors, (staff with experience raising their own children with special needs).
- School-transitions – help parents plan for the next step in their children’s education after “graduation” from Penfield.
